About The Magnificent S7 Shootout Parent & Youth Tournament

A TOURNAMENT SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR PARENTS AND THEIR CHILDREN

On Father's Day Weekend get ready for a rootin' tootin' good time.  The Central Arkansas Hawkeyes will host a parent and youth event designed for fun, and a little educational experience about the sport their youth will be participating in.

Kids and parents alike can learn about 5 meter BB gun competitions, and experience first-hand the focus and precision it takes to compete with the DAISY 499.  Come dressed for summer fun, because this recreational tournament promises to be a blast for all.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT & STRUCTURE

We have decided to adjust this match from a standard 5 meter match into an elimination style bracketed tournament.  This will be a double elimination tournament with a field of 16 teams.  Each team will consist of 1 parent/adult and 1 youth.  Teams will be paired in head to head matchups, in which they will try to eliminate the other team and try to advance to the next round.  Each team is guaranteed at least two matches during the day's event.

This tournament will start with 16 teams, and after the initial round the field will be split into a winners' and a losers' bracket.  There should be at least 4 rounds of shooting within the tournament.  In each round we will shoot a single position.  Teams will start in the Prone Position, and as the rounds progress so will the difficulty of the positions

  • Round of 16 - Prone Position
  • Round of 8 - Sitting Position
  • Round of 4 - Kneeling Position
  • Round of 2 - Standing Position
  • Every subsequent round after the Round of 2 will be shot in the Standing Position until a winner is decided

TOURNAMENT RULES

  • Youth must be between the ages of 8 and 16 years of age.  Adult shooting with the youth must be their parent, a family member, or a legal guardian.
  • Eye protection is required by everyone on the firing line, and by any spectator sitting within the shooting area.  Ear protection is not required, but can be worn if so desired.
  • Every participant will be using the DAISY 499 Champion BB gun.  If a team does not have a gun, one will be provided.
  • Slings and kneeling rolls will be permitted but are not required.  Slings can be used in every position, except for the standing position.  Shooting mats, slings, and kneeling rolls will be provided to those teams who do not have their own, and who wish to utilize them during the match.
  • There should be a minimum of four rounds in this tournament.  A round will consist of head to head matchups between two teams.  Rounds will be conducted in the following manner:  Each team will determine the order of their shooters for the round.  The first team member will shoot a ten bull target (1 shot per bull), and then the next team member will shoot a ten bull target.  The two targets together (20 shots total) will make up the total score for that team in the round.  The next team will come to the line and shoot their two targets.  The team with the highest score for the round will advance to the next round, and the loser will advance to the losers' bracket.  This scenario will repeat every round until a winner is determined.
  • Rounds will be scored using the Orion electronic scoring system.
  • Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams.

It promises to be good times and with good memories!!
