About Precision Air Rifle & .22
***At this time we do not have the proper facilities to adequately provide this training, but we are working on that! Until then we will refer you to Elizabeth Marsh, and Team Winning Solutions, if you want to pursue this specialized training for more advanced athletes.***
If you have ever seen rifle competitions in the NCAA or the Olympics, then chances are you've seen this. Precision Air Rifle is exactly what it sounds like. It is almost identical to its sporter cousin, but it takes precision to a whole new level. With the use of specialized shooting suits, guns and equipment, the object is to be as precise with your shots as you can, all the time, and every time.
This discipline is not for beginners, but you have to start somewhere. Shooters of an intermediate to advanced level, starting at 14 years of age, might just find the challenge they are looking for in this discipline. Precision Air Rifle is very often shot in conjunction with Precision Small Bore. In fact it is highly encouraged. Once a young shooter can master this discipline then they open themselves up to possible college opportunities with NCAA rifle programs. Many of which can offer scholarships.
Matches of this level are most likely offered through CMP or the Junior Olympic program of USA Shooting. The matches are usually in the 3 position format. The distance is 10 meters. They are indoors and, more often than not, they are shot on electronic targets.
If you are looking for equipment, there are various places you can look. If you are looking for a good gun, Walther is an excellent choice. Our partners at JNK can help you find what you need. If it is not available through them, we know of other resources that you can utilize. Just ask!
Precision shooting can be overwhelming at first, but it has a high return on investment. Well maintained equipment usually has a high resale value, and if you are intending on going to college it could lead to some scholarship opportunities. Just remember, precision shooting sports is not an investment in a hobby; it's an investment in your future. To help with that investment, we may be able to even help arrange some specialized training and instruction.
